Shocking: Obama reverses “Mexico City policy”

I’m intrigued by the Population Action International quote in the article. They say family planning is about “basic health care and well-being for women and children.” I guess they are only talking about the well-being of real children — the children that are wanted.
Before the election, I remember someone scoffing at me for referring to abortion as an important issue in choosing a president. They said that the President hardly has a say in it. Hardly.

Reproductive health is a serious problem.
Abortion is not desirable. No one ‘promotes’ abortion. But sometimes the wrongness of forcing someone to keep their child, and the resulting mistreatment and life-long disadvantages the child generally suffers, is greater than the wrongness of abortion.
This is not an case of right and wrong. This is a case of choosing between a very bad option and an even worse option.
